The Crucible is the online Bookii and the community that surrounds the world’s first Bookii created by Melanie Parish.

If you aren’t already a member, we hope you will join the Crucible.  You will just need to take a minute to sign up for membership in order to fully enjoy the Crucible Bookii. It is free to join and you will need to join in order to comment on the posts.

People ask me what the Crucible is.  In 2000 I was recently divorced and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.  I changed careers and became a business coach.  And I met Mel who eventually became my husband.  At the time I met Mel I was straight and Mel is a transgender man (a female to male transsexual).  Mel had not yet transitioned.  I was terrified and I didn’t think I was brave enough to step out of my comfort zone to be with Mel even though I very much wanted to.  I sent Mel away because I was afraid.  I couldn’t face coming out to my family and friends and changing my identity in the world.  I was scared of change.  There was a day that I looked at myself in the mirror and I realized I didn’t want to be the person that wasn’t brave enough to live my life the way I wanted to.  I didn’t want to live in fear.  I didn’t think I could look at myself in the mirror anymore if I didn’t try to make things work with Mel.  When I decided to be in relationship with Mel, I put myself and my life into the container that I came to picture as a crucible.  I put myself into the fire and it changed me and gave me the ride of a lifetime.  This is my real-time memoir of my life in the Crucible…because falling in love changed everything.

You might be wondering–what makes a Bookii?

1.  Single author content, much like a traditional book.

What can you expect from your Crucible Bookii membership?

• 5-10 new articles each month.  Most of these are produced as monthly columns that you can expect at the same time each month

• Being able to interact directly with Melanie Parish as the author of the Crucible.  You can ask questions, make comments, share your thoughts and writing and vote to steer content.

I want to invite you join this community where you can access all sorts of articles, video, pictures, and art for our members.    It isn’t a finished product all tied up in a bow.  It is a journey and I need your help as a member to help me create the content you want to read about.  I’m up for the journey and I hope you will help me create a great product you are proud to be a part of.  You can help by interacting with questions, thoughts, and comments about the Crucible Bookii–the world’s first “Bookii.”  As you interact, it will influence how the content gets created and how it evolves.
